What are the defects?

The bunk bed does not comply with the Australian mandatory safety standard for bunk beds, AS/NZS 4220:1994. The standard requires that the vertical distance between the top of the guard rail and the label indicating the maximum height of the mattress must be at least 160mm.

What are the hazards?

Inaccurate label positioning may lead to an incorrect size mattress being used on the top bunk. As a result, a child can roll over the guard rail and suffer fall-related injuries.
