As a result of a few customer calls, we have been made aware that in some cases the StrongArm knob on some Car Seat Base G2 units may detach or spin without tightening the base, preventing the proper installation of the Car Seat Base G2 in accordance with the instruction manual.
Please always register your Orbit Baby products with us, with up-to-date contact information. Customers that have registered a product affected by this recall will soon receive a notice regarding this issue, as well as any safety updates or product notices in the future. What do I do if my Car Seat Base G2 is affected? 

• Register your product. If you have not done so already, register your Orbit Baby products here: US Customers | Canadian Customers.  
• Install the StrongArm Repair Kit. After receiving your registration and contact information, Orbit Baby will soon send you a StrongArm Repair Kit so that you can easily re-attach your StrongArm knob to your Car Seat Base G2. 
• Continue using your Orbit Baby car seats. Keep in mind that you can continue to install your Orbit Baby car seat without your Car Seat Base G2 in the mean time if needed (view all of our product manuals and installation videos here). Also, if your Car Seat Base G2 is already securely installed in accordance with the instruction manual and the StrongArm knob later detaches or just spins, your base will remain securely installed and can continue to be used with your car seat; this does NOT affect the performance of your securely installed Car Seat Base G2 in a crash.

Orbit Baby Recalls G2 Carseat Bases Made Between March 20, 2013 and July 20, 2013

Orbit Baby has issued a voluntary recall of the Orbit Baby Car Seat Base G2. This is a voluntary recall and there have been no reports of injuries. Orbit Baby is taking action out of  an abundance of caution and to ensure the highest standards of safety. This recall affects the G2 carseat base only. It does NOT affect Orbit Baby carseats/carriers, strollers, bassinets or rockers. This issue also does not affect the performance of any Orbit Baby car seats if the Car Seat Base G2 is securely installed in accordance with the instruction manual.
Repair kits will be available soon for all G2 base owners with batches affected by this recall. Customers that have registered a product affected by this recall will automatically receive a notice regarding this issue, as well as any safety updates or product notices in the future. Consumers who have not yet registered their product should contact Orbit Baby Customer Service at 1-877-672-2229 or visit www.orbitbaby.com/support/register to register their product.

In some instances, the StrongArm knob on the Car Seat Base may detach or spin without tightening the base, preventing the installation of the Car Seat Base in accordance with the instruction manual. The StrongArm technology is an installation feature that facilitates the “60-second” installation of the Car Seat Base by tightening the Car Seat Base into the vehicle. The Car Seat Bases that are affected by this recall were manufactured from March 2013 to July 2013 with one of the following Batch Numbers: A0840, A0860 or A0880. No other models are affected by this recall and the actual Car Seat itself can continue to be used without the Car Seat Base in accordance with the instruction manual.

All Orbit Baby car seats and car seat bases have consistently met and exceeded applicable government safety standards.  This issue does not affect the performance of the Infant Car Seat G2 when used without the Car Seat Base G2. This issue also does not affect the performance of the Car Seat Base G2 if it is securely installed in accordance with the instruction manual.

Recall - Dorel Juvenile Announces a Safety Recall of Certain Safety 1st and Eddie Bauer Child Restraint Systems
Dorel Juvenile has determined that certain child restraint systems manufactured from July 20, 2010 through May 18, 2011 do not fully comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard.

A color coordinated ease of use label depicting the rear-facing mode instruction was positioned on the incorrect side of the base. The arrows on this label point towards the forward-facing belt path instead of the rear-facing belt path which could potentially cause confusion to the consumer.

Dorel Juvenile is issuing a safety recall for certain Safety 1st and Eddie Bauer brand child restraints manufactured from July 20, 2010 through May 18, 2011. There is a potential for the consumer to be misled or confused when installing the child restraint in the rear-facing mode.

We have received no complaints from consumers and just one comment from an interested party. Additionally there have been no incidents or injuries because of this labeling placement.

If you own one of the seats listed below, please call our Recall Hotline at 1-877-675-2355, Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5:00PM EST or email us at rfbaselabel@djgusa.com. The affected seats should not be returned to the retailer.

SUMMARY:

Dorel Juvenile Group (DJG) is recalling certain Safety 1st Complete Air LX (models CC050xxx), Safety 1st Complete Air SE (models CC051xxx), and Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite (models 22187xxx , 22465xxx ,CC033xxx , and CC046xxx), and Eddie Bauer Deluxe 3 in 1 convertible (models 22790xxx , and CC046xxx) child restraint systems manufactured from July 20, 2010, through May 18, 2011. [Note: The 'xxx' at the end of each model number represents different color options that each seat could be.] The rear facing belt path installation arrows are incorrect and could be potentially construed as pointing toward the forward facing vehicle belt path location. Therefore, the affected seats fail to conform to the labeling requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 213, "Child Restraint Systems."

CONSEQUENCE:

If the child seat is not installed properly, the child may be injured in the event of a crash.

REMEDY:

DJG will notify registered owners and provide free label kits consisting of modified labels which will correct the potential inconsistent information and instructions as to the proper installation of the restraint, free of charge. NOTES:

In June 2011, DJG petitioned NHTSA that the noncompliance was inconsequential to motor vehicle safety. In August 2013, NHTSA denied the petition and instructed DJG to conduct a recall campaign. Issue:

Dorel Distribution Canada and Transport Canada wish to inform the public of a non-compliance observed during voluntary internal verification testing that was performed by Dorel Distribution Canada. During certain simulated crash tests with a 3 year-old test dummy and the restraint in rear-facing orientation, one side of the shell was observed to crack.
This crack could allow part of the restraint system seat back to exceed the maximum allowable recline angle during a severe crash. The Motor Vehicle Restraint Systems and Booster Seats Safety Regulations limit the maximum angle the seat back is allowed to recline during a simulated crash test. This is in order to reduce the risk of injury from excessive impact forces being transferred to the child during a crash. There have been no field reports from actual usage of shell cracking.
It should be noted that there was no evidence of shell cracking during verification testing, conducted by Dorel, in any forward-facing modes or with any smaller, lighter test dummy in other rear-facing mode testing.

Enspira 65 only:

This crack exposes sharp edges which could cause injuries to a child occupant or caregiver. The Motor Vehicle Restraint Systems and Booster Seats Safety Regulations do not allow restraint systems and booster seats to have exposed sharp edges and/or protruding surfaces following a dynamic compliance test.

Safety Risk:

In the event of a severe collision, the overall structure of the restraint system could be affected which may cause part of the seat back to exceed the maximum allowable recline angle. This could result in the potential of causing excessive impact forces to be transferred to the child. For the Enspira 65 only, it is also possible that should the shell crack, sharp plastic edges could be exposed which may injure a child occupant or a parent/caregiver handling the child occupant or the restraint itself. It is important to note that this issue has not been observed in any forward-facing testing, nor has it been observed when using smaller, lighter test dummies in rear-facing mode testing.

Company Action:

Transport Canada and Dorel Distribution Canada have actively investigated the non-compliance. The company will notify all registered users, and those who have contacted Dorel indicating that they possess an affected unit, with an Owner Notification Letter. This letter will contain instructions on how to obtain a free shell repair kit by contacting Dorel’s dedicated toll free telephone number, dedicated email address or fax number.
The repair kit consists of a shell assembly with instructions available in French and English on how to replace the shell. French and English “how to” replace the shell videos will be placed on Dorel’s website for further clarity.

Consumers are advised to visit the Dorel Juvenile Group website at http://recall.djgusa.com/services/productrecall/canadarecalls.html to verify if their model is included in this recall. If their model is included, the consumer should call Dorel’s dedicated Toll free Customer Service Hotline at 1-(877)-416-9335, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST or email caenspira@djgusa.com or Fax 1-800-207-8182 to obtain their free shell repair kit.
In the interest of safety, Transport Canada and Dorel Distribution Canada would like to emphasize the importance of obtaining and using the free shell repair kit as soon as possible, as the nature of this structural non-compliance may affect the overall safety of the restraint system. This could result in an unanticipated or unpredictable response in a vehicle crash.

Description

The car seat adaptors come in three models and are used to secure a variety of infant car seats onto Baby Jogger strollers. The “Single” model fits all single strollers, the “Double” works only on double strollers and the “Select/Versa” fits Select and Versa strollers.  The car seat adaptors consist of two U-shaped, black, aluminum support bars and two black plastic adaptors that allow the support bars to attach onto the stroller. Black nylon straps secure the car seat to the adaptor on the stroller. The black support bars are labeled A and B.  The A support bar is the larger of the two U-shaped bars and has a red plastic tip with 10 holes.

Newer models have only four holes and are not being recalled. The model number is located on the lower right hand corner of the original package and the manufacturing date can be found on a sticker on the bottom of the package.

Incidents/Injuries

Baby Jogger has received 47 reports of the car seat adaptor supports bars failing and car seats falling to the floor. Reports include two injured infants with bruises to the head and toes.

Remedy

Consumers should immediately stop using their car seat adaptor and contact Baby Jogger for free replacement support bars.

Recall - SABELT S.P.A. Child Restraint Buckle - Europe and UK

Recall - SABELT S.P.A., A LEADING COMPANY IN THE FIELD OF CAR SAFETY, HAS REPORTED THAT A PARTICULAR BUCKLE MODEL USED FOR CAR CHILD TRANSPORT SYSTEMS, MAY PRESENT A POTENTIAL DEFECT THAT MIGHT REDUCE ITS RESTRAINT CAPACITY RESULTING IN A SAFETY HAZARD IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT.

The buckle type in question is shown in the photos below, in light grey and black.

Several manufacturers of children's car safety systems have used this buckle on some of their models, sold individually or as part of modular systems (pushchair / car seat / car carrycot).
Although to date we have not received any accident reports and the possibility of the buckle malfunctioning is extremely low, the manufacturers listed, as a precaution and with the aim of protecting the safety of children first, invite the owners of the reported models of each brand to immediately view the important safety information, published on the individual companies' websites mentioned below to see if their product is affected and to get all the information for it safe use.

Important safety notice – Product safety warning

Maxi-Cosi Citi SPS car seat – Catalogue number 376/6365

(Notice added 10th July 2013) It has been identified that during a collision there is the potential risk for the buckle of the Maxi-Cosi Citi SPS to release.
NOTE: only replace the buckle when you own a Maxi-Cosi Citi SPS (see photo) that was produced between week 22/2012 and week 22/2013. To check this, please look at the ECE sticker (orange and white label on the bottom of the car seat).
This issue relates solely to the Maxi-Cosi Citi SPS.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
Although no incidents have been reported, should you have a car seat from the affected batch you should stop using the car seat immediately and request a replacement buckle free of charge. This can be obtained by contacting Dorel customer services at customercare@dorel.eu , or alternatively by phoning their customer care centre on 01284 413 141.
This action is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and wellbeing of your child and Dorel apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
